Kentucky authorities have confirmed the tragic death of 22-year-old Ava Woodcock and her unborn child following a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in Glasgow. Woodcock, who had been critically injured, passed away Tuesday at a Louisville hospital after previously losing her unborn child as a result of the incident.
According to police, the situation began when Woodcock pulled into a restaurant parking lot and sounded her vehicle’s horn. Investigators say 24-year-old Brandon Bond then crossed the street and opened fire while she remained inside her car. After being shot, her vehicle continued moving before ultimately crashing.
Bond fled the scene but was later located in a wooded area behind a nearby recycling facility. He was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including murder and fetal homicide. Authorities reported that Bond had been drinking throughout the day and was uncooperative during his arrest, requiring restraint and separation while in custody.
He is expected to appear for arraignment in Barren District Court on Wednesday. The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the shooting remains ongoing.
Woodcock leaves behind a one-year-old daughter. In the wake of this devastating loss, loved ones have established a GoFundMe campaign to support her family.
